PURPOSE: A punching apparatus of a lead frame tapping equipment and driving method thereof is to prevent a formation of a protrusion at a periphery of a tape cut by a blade of a cutting die. CONSTITUTION: A punching apparatus of a lead frame tapping equipment comprises a punch(14) moved upward and downward by a cylinder, a stripper(16) positioned at a lower portion of the punch and formed with a first punch receiving hole(20) at a center portion thereof, a cutting die(40) positioned at a lower portion of the stripper and having a second punch receiving hole(44) at a center portion thereof, a lower plate(34) placed at a lower portion of the cutting die to support a lead frame(32) between the cutting dies and having a heater block receiving hole(35), a heater block(50) provided at lower portion of the lower plate and rising through the heater block receiving hole to heat the lead frame. A method for driving the punching apparatus comprises steps of simultaneously performing a falling of the punch and a rising of the heater block to be contacted with the lead frame, and after a desired time is passed, simultaneously performing a rising of the punch and a falling of the heater block.
