PURPOSE: A muffler of an internal combustion engine is provided to effectively remove noise of exhaust gas by guiding exhaust gas through a plurality of slits facing to each other, thereby cancelling noise energy of exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: A muffler includes a housing(70) having an upper surface(73) and a bottom surface(75). A cylindrical pipe(11a) is positioned in the housing(70). The cylindrical pipe(11a) is formed with a plurality of slits(17). A plurality of first rectangular pipes(20) are provided. The first rectangular pipes(20) are formed with exhaust holes(25) for discharging exhaust gas. First and second partition walls(30) are installed from the upper surface(73) to the bottom surface(75) of the housing(70). A plurality of second rectangular pipes(40) so as to discharge exhaust gas through exhaust holes(45) formed therein. A plurality of third rectangular pipes(60) are formed at both sides thereof with a plurality of slits(67). An exhaust pipe(80) is connected to output ports of the third rectangular pipes(60) so as to discharge exhaust gas to the exterior.
