PURPOSE: An adaptive hand-over method in an IMT-2000(International Mobile Telecommunications-2000) wireless network is provided to adaptively decide a hand-over method, and to minimize service disconnection and hand-over delay through a resource reservation method using multi-casting when performing hand-over by a virtual connection re-routing method. CONSTITUTION: When a call is set in an MS(Mobile Station), the MS initializes a maximum extension number and a hand-over path table(S101). If hand-over is generated, the MS transmits the self maximum extension value to an AP(Access Point)(S102). The AP compares the maximum extension value transmitted from the MS with "0"(zero)(S103). If the maximum extension value is smaller than "0", the AP performs hand-over using a virtual connection re-routing method applying a multi-casting service system. If the maximum extension value is not smaller than "0", the AP checks whether cycling is generated(S105). If so, the AP performs hand-over using the first virtual connection extension system(S106). If the maximum extension value is larger than "0" and cycling is not generates, the AP performs hand-over using the second virtual connection extension system.
