The device for increasing the commutation forces of a commutation shaft (2) sliding along its geometric axis relative to the gearbox casing (3) comprises a fixed socket (5) surrounding the shaft. A support collar (7) surrounds the commutation shaft and is longitudinally fixed relative to the support collar and a sliding collar (6) also surrounds the shaft. Balls (9) in the shaft periphery penetrate an annular groove (12) when the shaft is in the neutral position. A pre-stressed spring (8) pushes the sliding collar against the balls in the direction of the support collar. The shaft comprises an interior collar (10) which under the force of a spring and a ramp shaped segment (10a) of the collar drives the commutation shaft from a commutation position into a neutral position.
