PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor (14) for a synchronous machine (10). SOLUTION: The rotor (14) has a rotor core (22) which has a rotor axis (20) and a pair of superconducting coil windings (34 and 100) installed to the rotor core. Each of the coil windings is in parallel to the rotor axis, and in each plane with an offset from the rotor axis.
