PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve handleability of an extra-fine copper foil, to prevent a contamination of a surface of the foil, to prevent a damage or a nick due to a foreign matter, to prevent a wrinkle, folding or the like and to allow mechanical release and removal of a carrier to be facilitated in addition to a conventional water dissolving removing method when the carrier is removed. SOLUTION: The copper foil with a water soluble resin carrier comprises a protective carrier made of a coating layer of a water soluble resin on at least one surface of the foil. The coating surface of the foil is previously treated by a silane coupling agent represented by formula: Rn SiX4-n , wherein R is an alkyl group or a phenyl group (which may contain a group substituted with a fluorine (F), and an inert group to a resin of an ether bond or the like), X is a hydrolytic group such as Cl, OCH3 , OC2 H5 , OCH2 CH2 CH3 or the like, and n is an integer of 1 to 3, then coated with a water soluble resin, or coated with the water soluble resin in which the silane coupling agent is added.
