PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of times of communication when an information processor is to confirm the state of image communication equipment. SOLUTION: The information processor simultaneously inquires the presence/ absence of a state change of respective functions such as recording function, reading function and facsimile function provided in the image communication equipment, without inquiring the states of such functions, the image communication equipment simultaneously returns the presence/absence of the state change in each of functions, the information processor inquires a concrete state only concerning a function having the state change, and the image communication equipment returns the concrete state of the changed function.
