PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus by which the number of sequential photographing is set to be larger compared with interlace reading which has necessity to store the image signals of whole pixels by utilizing a merit in progressive thinning reading and also by which memory management is prevented from becoming complicated by the co-existence of the image signals by the two reading systems in a memory. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is constituted to change-over the both interlace reading and progressive reading systems. When a CCD reading change- over means 4 changes-over the interlace reading system or the progressive reading system, the setting of the number in sequential photographing is changed in response to the change-over. In other words, the number of sequential photographing by the progressive reading is set to be larger than that by the interlace reading.
