PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to easily obtain a perpendicular magnetic recording medium having a targeted magnetic characteristics by a spattering method and obtained magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: The perpendicular magnetic recording medium in this invention is made up by laminating at least a soft magnetic backing layer, a foundation layer, a magnetic recording layer, a protection layer, and a liquid lubricant layer sequentially on a non-magnetic substrate. The above magnetic recording layer is a rare metal-transition alloyed metal amorphous film formed by the spattering method, and the formation of the above magnetic recording layer by the spattering method is characterized to be performed by the film forming gas added with 2%<=H2 gas <=60%. This invention discloses the manufacturing method of the perpendicular magnetic recording medium.
