PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem; the difficulty of miniaturization of an optical transmission device since an optical transmitting/receiving device is separate and two optical fibers are used. SOLUTION: Two spot-faced grooves 18A, 18B which stand in a line along an optical transmission direction are formed in an upper surface of one base substrate 16 with a through-hole electrode 17. An LED 7 or an LD is mounted on a bottom of one spot-faced groove 18A, and an IC 12 which is a photosensitive element is mounted on a bottom of the other spot-faced groove 18B. A partition 16A formed between two spot-faced grooves 18A, 18B constitutes a light screening wall which prevents optical interference between both chips. Plating coating 19 is applied to a surface of the spot-faced grooves 18a, 18b. A block 20 (metal/plastic) is sub-mounted on a rear of the IC 12. An optical transmission hole of a transmitting/receiving device 15 is airtightly closed by a lens 23 (glass/plastic). A miniaturized and inexpensive single bidirection optical transmission device which enables surface mounting can be provided. |
