Method for making digital images available, especially for storing images so that they can be downloaded from a web site database. Said method involves creation of a temporary container on the hard drive of a computer system containing an image database, for each commercial transaction carried out, via the intermediary of the web site, with the aim of obtaining exploitation rights for a digital image. A user can access an image and purchase it from the secure zone by making payment according to acquisition conditions.
