PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector capable of surely holding at a temporary locking position even if a force acts on a retainer in the push-in direction. SOLUTION: A lock part 30 of a lock arm 28 and a part 31, which is to be locked, provided to a side piece 21 of a retainer 4 hit each other on such surfaces as a surface 30A, which locks, and a surface 31A, which is to be locked, are orthogonal to the push-in direction of the retainer 4 at temporary locking. So, the locked state is kept even if the force in the push-in direction acts on the retainer 4, and the retainer 4 does not accidentally shift into a practical locking position. By using a lock release jig 37 provided with a releasing part 41 capable of releasing a locked state and a push-in part 40 capable of pushing into the practical locking position after releasing, the retainer 4 can be shifted into the practical lock position.
