<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for packet communications which satisfactorily maintain the quality of packets. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a plurality of terminals 51a to 51d, 52a, and 52b connected to a packet communication network 50, a plurality of packet transfer devices 53a to 53c which are arranged on the boundaries between the network and terminals and encode main information to be transmitted and make the resultant information into packets, and a core server 54 which controls the packet transfer devices. Packet transfer devices 53a and 53b are provided with means for producing a test packet of a transmission volume, means for monitoring the priority levels of main information packets, priority setting means for setting priority levels to packets to be transmitted, and means for discriminating whether a received packet has arrived within a preliminarily determined set time. The packet transfer devices transmit a test packet before transmission of main information packets to discriminate whether the test packet has arrived within the prescribed time, confirm the communication band state on the basis of the discrimination result and start transmitting the main information packets in the case of arrival within the prescribed time.</p> |
