PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create the structure of entire contents and to edit the structure by assigning a series of data composed of a plurality of physical streams to one piece of contents. SOLUTION: In the contents structure editing device, a video stream stored on the condition of limiting the storage capacity of a video recording tape, hard disk or optical recording medium or on the condition of limiting storage capacity by a specification like a file size is defined as a physical stream of one unit and the structure of one piece of contents is created and edited from a plurality of physical streams. The device is provided with a structure display and editing part 300 for displaying the logical structure of entire contents and editing that structure and an attribute and a physical structure display and editing part 200 for displaying and editing a position to start assigning the physical streams to the contents and the range of that assignment.
