PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonsintered positive electrode that has high utilization factor and superior productivity, and an alkali storage battery that has excellent cycle property in a high temperature atmosphere using the positive electrode. SOLUTION: In the nonsintered positive electrode having a conductive base material and a positive electrode mixture, the positive electrode mixture contains nickel hydroxide as active material, in which a part of nickel in nickel hydroxide on the surface of a particle is converted trivalent and the surface of the particle is covered with cobalt oxide containing sodium, and a natural polysaccharide as a thickener, and constitutes the nonsintered positive electrode. Preferably, the valence of the cobalt oxide containing the sodium calculated in cobalt equivalent is 2.6-3.1. Then, preferably, the content of the natural polysaccharide is 0.1-0.5 wt.pts. based on the nickel oxide of 100 wt.pts. |
