PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk style recording and reproducing device which enables recording and/or reproducing compatibly optical disks of a plurality of kinds of formats which can not be constituted of by a single optical pickup. SOLUTION: The disk style recording and reproducing device is equipped with a base unit 25 in which two independent optical pickup 31, 32 corresponding to two kinds of different formats are arranged at back and front of a centrally located turn table for disk rotation 27.
