PURPOSE: A bit slice modular multiplier is provided to facilitate the operand bit expansion of the modular multiplier confronting to the bit extension of a password key by designing an internal operator matched with a bit size of the password key in a bit slice technique, and to reduce an expense for redesigning a hardware. CONSTITUTION: The first modular multiplier(810) performs a modular multiplication operation by receiving an upper bit group of the multiplier, an upper bit group of a multiplicand and the upper bit group of a modulus. The second modular multiplier(820) performs the modular multiplication operation by receiving the upper bit group of the multiplier, a lower bit group of the multiplicand and a middle bit group of the modulus. The third modular multiplier(830) performs the modular multiplication operation by receiving the lower bit group of the multiplier, the upper bit group of the multiplicand and the middle bit group of the modulus. The fourth modular multiplier(840) performs the modular multiplication operation by receiving the lower bit group of the multiplier, the lower bit group of the multiplicand and the lower bit group of the modulus. An adder(850) performs an addition operation of respective output values of each modular multiplier.
