PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver that determines a state of itself when its power has been interrupted at application of power to the television receiver so as to revise an initial setting of the image quality of the television receiver thereby bringing the state of itself to the state when the power has been interrupted. SOLUTION: In the television receiver whose power can be operated by a remote controller, a nonvolatile memory stores a state when power of the television receiver is interrupted and a plurality of preset values to set the image quality of the television receiver. At application of power to the television receiver, the television receiver determines a state when the power of the television receiver has been interrupted stored in the nonvolatile memory, selects the setting value stored in the nonvolatile memory, sets the image quality of he television receiver on the basis of the selected setting value and brings the state of the television receiver to the state when the power of the television receiver has been interrupted.
