A safety device for a membrane press is provided with at least one opening for the insertion of materials to be pressed for discharging solid pressing residues, where the opening (5) is closed by a door (2). The device will not allow/maintain pressure of the press without the door being in a closed state. The device also has at least one unit for the controlled establishment of a leak, each optionally associated with a cooperating door assembly. Each unit comprises, on one hand, an actuator module (4) comprising an opening (5) for receiving some sort of key (6) that is mounted on the door, and on the other hand a valve module comprising a sealing member (9) for a circulation duct between an aperture (11) in fluid connection with one or more inflation volume pressure (12) and an aperture opening into the open air (13). There is an actuating member (14) that allows for the closing of the duct by the sealing member (9) when the key (6) is totally engaged in the actuator module opening. Inversely, if the key (6) is insufficiently engaged in teh opening, the actuating member does not close the duct, letting the pressurized volume escape through the duct. This prevents the press from fully functioning while the door is not secure.
