MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE AND ITS SERVO SIGNAL RECORDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To write servo signals in a magnetic disk device without using an external writing device and to surely and efficiently record prescribed servo signals on a magnetic disk surface even though dispersion exists in the size of head recording and reproducing elements. SOLUTION: The device is provided with an actuator 13 which is used to stepwise feed a head 2 on a magnetic disk 1, range limiting means 8 and 9 which limit the operating range of the actuator, range specifying means 8 and 10 which are used to set the specifying range of the actuator 13 within the operating range of the actuator 13 and a control means which corrects the servo track feed interval based on the number of servo tracks that are written in the specifying range set by the means 8 and 10 and controls the writing of servo signals with the corrected servo track feed interval.
