PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire actuator which is of a simple structure and is advantageous for being downsized, and particularly being slimmed. SOLUTION: The wire actuator 1 has an actuator unit 10 which is composed of a wire 2 and an actuator body 3 where the wire 2 is attached so as to be capable of moving in its longitudinal direction. The actuator body 3 has a plate-shaped base 4, a vibrator 6 for moving the wire 2 and being in the shape of a roughly oblong plate, two guide rollers 51 and 52 with large diameters, and four guide rollers 53, 54, 55, and 56 with small diameters, and a movement quantity detection means 7 for detecting the quantity of movement of the wire 2. The projection 66 of the vibrator 6 abuts on the wire 2, and when the vibrator 6 vibrates, the wire 2 moves longitudinally receiving a frictional force (pressure) from the vibrator 6 repeatedly. In this case, it is so arranged that the wire 2 can move in either direction of the positive direction and reverse direction, by changing the vibration pattern of the vibrator 6 by the selection of the current application pattern to each electrode of the vibrator 6. |
