PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium which has a data area set up so that compatibility is secured within the same drive while maintaining good recording/reproducing characteristics and storage capacity. SOLUTION: For an optical recording medium which has a center hole, a clamping area, a data area to record user data, a lead-in area outside the above data area, a lead-out area outside the above data area, and whose center hole diameter is 15 mm, this invention is characterized in that the inner diameter of the clamping area is within the range of 20 to 26 mm and the inner diameter of the data area within the range of 36 to 40 mm. In this way, the optical recording medium can be made small while increasing its storage capacity, even when using the existing disk drives as is. |
