PURPOSE: A flat type speaker is provided to achieve improved performance of the speaker by optimizing the distribution of piezo-electric film electrodes and preventing distortion of frequency characteristics between bands of sound. CONSTITUTION: A flat type speaker(10) comprises a thin vibration plate made of a fiber reinforced composite material; an actuator for piezo-electric films attached to front and rear surfaces of the vibration plate; and a voltage applying unit for applying voltage signals to the electrode of the piezo-electric film. The specific part of the electrode of the piezo-electric film is removed so as to partially suppress piezo-electric effects, to thereby prevent distortion of frequency characteristics of the sound generated from the vibration plate.
