<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM exchange and its power saving method which effectively reduce the power consumption. SOLUTION: A control signal to control the operation frequency of each output buffer is generated depending on the flow rate of ATM cells passing an ATM switch. The operation frequency (operation clock) of a prescribed circuit in the ATM exchange is reduced or its operation is stopped on the basis of the control signal.</p> |
