PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to transmit by facsimile the contents of a color document generated with an information processor to a transmission destination party having no color receiving function. SOLUTION: In transmitting by facsimile image data prepared by the information processor through image communication equipment, the information processor adds information as to whether the image data of a transmission object includes color image data and information of the transmission destination party, instructs the image communication equipment to transmit the image data with the added information and subsequently starts to transfer the image data of a transmission object to the image communication equipment. The image communication equipment discriminates whether the transmission destination party has a function for receiving a color image by performing procedure processing prior to communication with the instructed transmission destination party, and notifies the information processor that the transmission destination party does not have the function for receiving a color image when the transmission destination party does not have the function for receiving a color image. The information processor that has received this notification converts the color image data transferred to the image communication equipment into monochrome image data and retransfers the monochromatic image data.
