PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means that reduces the dimension of a surface acoustic wave converter in the propagation direction. SOLUTION: This invention provides the surface acoustic wave converter that is characterized in that electrode fingers corresponding to a side lobe P1 opposite to a side lobe at an output of the surface acoustic wave converter in the impulse response of the surface acoustic wave converter comprising a main lobe and a plurality of the side lobes obtained by the FIR (finite impulse response) design method are eliminated, a reflection electrode takes over functions expressed by the side lobe P1 before the elimination and the surface acoustic wave converter employs a composite electrode comprising the reflection electrode and a main lobe electrode.
