The invention concerns a method and a device for attributing a visual content to an object which consists in: modelling said object (1) in digital form with a set (2) of components (C1, C2, C3); providing at least a so-called association file including a plurality of families (4) containing a digital decorative element Di, Dj, Dk and one or several codes I1, I2, I3, J1, K1 characterizing said decorative element; using said association file for updating all or part of the families containing a characterizing code J1 identical with at least one of the so-called characterizing codes, called base characterizing code (13) of said association file; attributing to one C1 or several of the components of said set of components the decorative element J1 of one or the other of the families updated with said base characterizing code(s).
