PURPOSE: A variable water pump is provided to improve cooling performance of the variable water pump by reducing the amount of cooling water when an initial ignition stage or a cooling ignition of an engine and increasing the amount of cooling water when a hot ignition of the engine. CONSTITUTION: Rotational force of a crank shaft is transferred to an impeller(31) through first and second rotating shafts(33,35). One end of the first rotating shaft(33) is connected to the impeller(31) and a recess is formed at the other end of the first rotating shaft(33). One end of the second rotating shaft(35) is inserted into the recess of the first rotating shaft(33). A pulley(36) is coupled to the other 4end of the second rotating shaft(35). The first rotating shaft(33) is movable lengthwise so a position of the impeller(31) is varied. A guide is installed in the recess and a guide hole for receiving the guide is formed at an outer portion of the second rotating shaft(35).
