PURPOSE: Provided is a method for the preparation of dialkylpyridylboranes comprising reacting a pyridine Grignard reagent and an alkoxydialkylborane or a trialkylborane. Dialkylpyridylboranes are very useful reagents in cross-coupling reactions to prepare substituted pyridine derivatives. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing a dialkylpyridylborane is characterized by comprising reacting a pyridine Grignard reagent with a borane reagent selected from an alkoxydialkylborane reagent and a trialkylborane reagent, wherein the pyridine Grignard reagent is prepared by reacting an alkyl magnesium halide or aryl magnesium halide with a halopyridine reagent; the borane reagent is a C1-C10alkoxydi(C1-C10alkyl)borane; and the reaction between the borane reagent and the pyridine Grignard reagent is performed at temperature from about 0 to about 40 deg.C.
