PURPOSE: Provided is a method for stabilizing an acrolein, so as to prevent it from self-polymerizing during its purification, storage or transportation, by using at least one nitroxide derivative in essentially anaerobic atmosphere. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises stabilizing an acrolein in acrolein-rich flow containing at least 90% by weight of acrolein monomer by adding at least one nitroxide compound thereto, during its purification, storage or transportation. The nitroxide compound has the formula 1, wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4, which may be identical or different, represent optionally substituted linear or branched alkyl radicals, R3 and R4 also may be linked together; R5 is a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted linear or branched alkyl radical; and R6 represents an optionally substituted linear or branched alkyl radical, an aryl radical or a dialkoxyphosphoryl radical.
