The rotary printer incorporates a rubber cylinder (16) which engages with the print roller (4). An endless rubber belt (17) runs over the cylinder (16). Printing plate carrying cylinders (15) engage with the rubber belt. Damping devices (13) and colour applicators are mounted next to the plate cylinders. A colour print pattern is applied by the plate cylinder to the belt, which in turn transmits the pattern to a sheet which is carried on the print roller (4). The rubber belt runs over a second cylinder (16) which applies a second pattern to the belt and to the sheet.
