The invention relates to a device and method for removing oil (2) floating in water. The device comprises an oil delivery device (4, 10, 16) having at least one longitudinally extended, flexible and buoyant supporting element (6) that is provided with at least one oil delivery element (10) having an oil delivery direction (R) extending essentially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the supporting element (6). The inventive device also comprises at least one buoyant oil collecting device (20), which is arranged near the supporting element (6) and interacts with the oil delivery element (10) thereof.
