PURPOSE: To increase the suitableness of a choice of an illumination pattern for reducing a false outline and a flicker. CONSTITUTION: For image display for reproducing half-tones by a subframe method of converting a frame into a plurality of subframes, an illumination pattern as a combination of choices of illumination and non-illumination by the subframes is determined by pixels constituting a display picture according to the frame data value of a pixel of interest, the illumination pattern of the pixel of interest in a past frame, and an illumination pattern determined as to circumferential pixels being pixels of the same display colors positioned nearby the pixel of interest. |
