A large vacuum gate valve has the flat valve element supported on each side by swivel stubs on the centre of mass axis. The stubs are guided in vertical profiles, via rollers and sliding supports. In the raised position the gate valve is secured between seals and with a servo ram to press the valve into the sealing position. The design provides a secure seal for long gate valves of up to 5 metres.
