PURPOSE: A device and a method for increasing remote controller switches are provided to increase the switch function of a remote controller connected to earphone-microphone lines of a mobile communication terminal, without additional hardware. CONSTITUTION: A remote controller(20) combines the limited number(N) of switches to generate 2¬N switch signals. A terminal(10) receives the switch signals generated in the remote controller(20) to discriminate the received switch signals, and performs operations in accordance with the discriminated switch signals. The switches of the remote controller(20) are configured by being connected to signal lines applied to earphone-microphone lines, without an additional signal line. The signal lines are composed of a microphone signal line and an earphone signal line, wherein the microphone signal line is for receiving voice through a microphone and the earphone signal line is for outputting voice through an earphone.
