A machine room−less elevator in which a governor (4) is installed integrally with a cage side rope stop member (3) being held by a guide rail (2) for cage. Since a component (18) pertaining to installation on the guide rail (2) can be shared between the governor (4) and the cage side rope stop member (3), a relatively inexpensive governor can be provided and man−hours required for installation can be reduced.
