To provide a variety of types of loose bulk materials at the working site, where ballasts of different grades are required at the railway permanent way, they are loaded in charges simultaneously or in sequence at the transport/storage freight wagons (11), to be taken to or next to the permanent way location in a rake (80) of permanent way maintenance wagons. The bulk materials are classified and separated into fractions according to their use. The materials are moved and transferred by conveyors in and between the wagons.
