A container assembly for the transportation and storage of refrigerated products, which can be transported on the loading platform (T) of a vehicle (V) is provided with refrigeration means (R) for maintaining inside it thermally controlled conditions and comprises at least one modular container (M) having a substantially box-shaped form with a load-bearing structure (1) and thermally insulating walls (P, 2, 2', 11) able to define an internal compartment (7), at least one of the walls (P) being movable between an initial position (6) in which it defines, together with the other walls, the internal compartment (7) of the modular container (M) and final position (8) in which it leaves a loading/unloading passage (9) completely open. Means (10) are envisaged for removably connecting the modular container (M) to another modular container (M') which is substantially identical and provided with a corresponding passage (9'), keeping the respective movable walls (P, P') in their final position and the respective passages (9, 9') facing each other in order to increase the loading compartment of the assembly (A).
