PURPOSE: To provide a humidifier which has a high water absorption property and a high toughness and ensures a sufficient humidifying quantity. CONSTITUTION: The humidifier 1 starts operating to start a fan motor 26 in a blower 25 to suck air from a room under humidification into an intake air passage A via an air purifying filter 14 and an air intake 13 and a sirocco fan 27 accelerates the air in a fan casing 28 to send out the air down from a blowout hole 29 to a protective member 37. The air then flows through the member 37, a vaporizing filter 19 and, to explain in detail a space defined by flat plate-like cloths 42 and corrugated cloths 43 formed of each filter component 44 made of a composition containing 50 wt.% rayon and 50 wt.% PVA for vaporizing water contained in the filter 19 to humidify the air passing the filter 19, and the air thus humidified through the filter 19 is then discharged via a blowout air passage B and blowout holes 11 into the room under humidification, thereby humidifying in the room.
