<p>A particle beam detector (20) having pixilated current collection means (22), typically formed of high density graphite, disposed upon a backplate (24), also typically formed of graphite. The pixilated current collection means (22) are connected to read out means (26) which may be located remotely. The backplate (24) may also be connected to the readout means (26). The current collection means (22) and backplate (24) may be disposed at right angles to, or at an acute angle to, an incoming particle beam (10). The detector (20) is arranged to detect the beam profile and determine the dosage of the input beam (10). The detector (20) may be incorporated within a beam detector system including a target (12) disposed between the detector (20) and the input beam (10).</p> |
