The ambulance stretcher (1) has a carrier (4) for a patient, consisting of a basic frame (2) and upper platform (3) supported on the base frame by two support arms (5,6) each of which is linked to a hoist also supported on the base frame. The two support arms share the same swivel axle (10). Hydraulic cylinders (7,8) are symmetrical with vertical plane (11) through the swivel axis.
