Torque-producing device comprises a container (1) filled with a liquid (2), a shaft (3) rotatably positioned in the container, and at least one rotor unit (4) arranged on the shaft perpendicular to the shaft. Two gas-filled floating cylinders (5, 6) impinged upon by the liquid and arranged on each rotor unit a distance away from the shaft have pistons (7, 8) coupled via a common piston rod (9) for alternately increasing/decreasing the working volume of the floating cylinders. The piston capacity (10, 11) for transferring the filling gas is coupled via a connecting line (12, 13) for the filling gas. A floating body (14) on the piston rod holds the piston rod against the hydrostatic pressure exerted on the pistons. Preferred Features: Several rotor units are positioned in a row on the shaft in the container. The angle of rotation of the rotor units is equidistantly offset. The filling gas is air. The container is filled with water.
