Protective cap (1) for a nut (10) and bolt (8) connection comprises a transparent, cylindrical thermoplastic upper section which is sealed at the top (4). An elastomeric sliding ring (2) is fitted on this and has a sealing lip (15) which fits under the chamfers of the nut.
