A table board game in which players on competing first and second teams seek to strike a ball. The players are represented by miniature figures (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17) each mounted on a permanent-magnet base (12B, 13B, 14B, 15B). The figures are slidable along the playing surface of a dual-level board (10), the polarity of the base magnets in the first team being opposite to that of the base magnets in the second team. Manual control means (H, 22, 23) are provided which include magnets (CM) slidable within a first level (UL) below the playing surface which attract and are magnetically coupled to the base magnets (12B, 13B) of the first team to manipulate the players (12, 13) on this team to execute movements appropriate to the game being played. Also provided are similar manual control means (H, 24, 25) whose magnets (CM) are slidable within a second level (LL) below the first level and are magnetically coupled to the base magnets (14B, 15B) of the second team to manipulate the players (14, 15) on this team.
