A ferrite carrier for electrophotographic developers which comprises ferrite particles with irregular, non-spherical configuration capable of forming a conductive magnetic chain, said carrier having the general formula(MeO)x(Fe203)100xwherein MeO represents an environmentally benign metal oxide and x is less than 50 mole percent.
