PURPOSE: An automatically closed umbrella construction and a method of opening and closing the same are provided to support umbrella ribs with continuous elasticity and automatically fold the umbrella by restoring elastic force of auxiliary umbrella ribs upon the release of a locking device. CONSTITUTION: A coupler(1a) is rotatably fixed to umbrella ribs by a pin and has one end portion of an auxiliary umbrella rib being inserted thereto. An umbrella auxiliary rib fixing portion(10) externally encloses an umbrella rod(3), vertically moves on the umbrella rod(3) and has a fitting groove for fixing the auxiliary umbrella ribs(1) on the upper part. The auxiliary umbrella ribs(1) are made of high-elastic material and are longer than the vertical distance between the auxiliary umbrella rib fixing portion and the coupler(1a).
