A pressure casting produced from an alloy which is able to form a dendritic primary phase. The casting has a microstructure characterised by fine dendrite primary particles in a matrix of secondary phase. The primary particles have a form from the group consisting of rounded, spheroidal, degenerate dendritic and mixtures thereof, and are evenly distributed, while the primary particles may be substantially less than 40 μm in size, such as about 10 μm or less. The microstructure is able to exhibit alloy element separation for elements differing sufficiently in density.
|
