PURPOSE: A method for managing failure of a DCS(Digital Cross-connect System) is provided to configure a connection list for deciding and handling a failure state, and to prepare a task assuming charge of only a timer function, so as to acquire a correct time and improve a failure handling capacitance of the system. CONSTITUTION: A connection list for deciding and handling a failure state is configured and whether failure is generated is discriminated(ST21,ST22). If failure is generated, an item including a timer field is generated in the connection list(ST23). A value of the timer field of the generated item is periodically reduced, to discriminate whether the timer field value is below "0"(ST24,ST25). If so, the connection list is moved to a next item, and a memory of the previous item is released(ST26). And the list in the step ST21 includes a list for declaring a failure state for generated failure and a list for initial state declaration for the change from a failure state to a failure-free state.
