<p>An apparatus and method for filling a mold (10) for casting an optical lens. Two molding shells (12A, 12B) and a closure member (14) form the mold (10) with a molding cavity (16). To fill the mold (10), a fluid lens-forming material is introduced into the molding cavity (16) through a casting opening (20) formed in the closure member (14). Air is vented out during the filling process through a venting opening (18) also formed in the closure member (14). Both the casting opening (20) and the venting opening (18) are located in the upper portion of the molding cavity (16) but spaced apart from each other at an acute angle.</p> |
