The polygonal workpiece holder (29) supports two clamping faces and has on at least one surface only one turntable. The workpiece holder is mounted to rotate about its longitudinal centre axis on support means (22, 25) which are arranged only on one side of the holder. Drive means in gearing connection with the workpiece holder are provided on the support means to rotate the holder about the longitudinal axis. The workpiece holder projects freely on one side over the drive means and the support means are formed or connected to fixing devices (19) for guiding on the machine element.
